ECOLOGICAL LANDSCAPING
 

"Ecological landscaping" is a broad term for a landscaping ethos that goes against the grain of conventional landscaping practices.

 

At HB, we build gardens, hardscaping and other landscape features (fencing, raised beds, pergolas, etc) in order to shape outdoor spaces that support human beings and the local ecology.

​Our gardens are biodiverse by design. By using a mix of grasses, herbaceous perennials, groundcover, vines, shrubs and trees, we are able to create beautiful + dynamic places within the broader landscape that look good in all four seasons. We intentionally select for flowers that bloom throughout the entire growing season. Our plantings provide food and habitat for local pollinators, birds, and other beneficial insects.

Important to note - biodiversity does not imply messiness! All of our landscaping is done with a clear design focus - such that plantings add visual harmony and structure.
