PET MEMORIAL TREES

When a pet dies, it can be an incredibly difficult thing to process. Moving through the grief and figuring out how to pay respect to the memory of a furry friend can feel overwhelming.

That is why Happy Bear would like to help people memorialize the lives of peoples' pets with Pet Memorial Trees.

Let the life of your beloved furry friend become the life force of a beloved tree.
What is a Pet Memorial Tree?

These trees are planted WITH the cremated ashes of your deceased pet so that the life of your pet quite literally becomes part of the life of the tree.
By distributing the ashes and mixing them in with compost and other organic soil amendments around the root zone of the tree, we ensure that the minerals and nutrients in the ashes will nourish growth and uptake through the roots of the tree. Over time, these minerals and nutrients will help to form the living & growing tissue of the tree.

The life force of a deceased pet, therefore, becomes a direct part of the life force of the Pet Memorial Tree.

To begin, we site the tree and select a species.
We will come to your property and work with you to figure out placement and (based on site characteristics) decide on a species of tree that will thrive there. The trees can be any number of different species--fruit trees, native trees, flowering trees, etc.

Next, we source the tree and a custom plaque or engraved stone bench.

Clients can choose between a plaque or engraved stone bench and customize this memorial with whatever they would like it to say.

Then we coordinate with the client to pick a date & time for the tree planting.

On that day we come with the young tree, custom memorial, planting materials, organic soil amendments, and mulch. All we ask of you, the client, is to provide a water source and the cremated ashes of your deceased furry friend.
You are of course welcome to say a few words and be a part of the planting.

If there is a custom engraved stone bench, we will make sure that is levelled in a good place within the mulch circle of the tree and, if deer are deemed a threat, we will install a small deer fence around the tree.
